Archive Collection: Fawn

A timeless green-toned neutral

Fawn is our interpretation of a classic 18th-century tan. Originally, this colour would have been used across both walls and woodwork, however Fawn’s underlying greenness means that it also sits beautifully among lighter shades from our Traditional Neutrals group, or on exterior surfaces where it can mirror the tones of surrounding greenery.

Recommended Primer & Undercoat: Mid Tones

Complementary white: Lime White

Archive Collection: Fawn is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 14.

Every one of our paint colours is available in a range of durable interior and exterior paint finishes, each rigorously tested to ensure an exceptional depth of colour and long-lasting finish. For the very best results, we always recommend using a Farrow & Ball Primer & Undercoat – see above for the correct tone for this colour.

All Farrow & Ball finishes except Limewash contain isothiazolinones, which may produce an allergic reaction. Farrow & Ball Limewash contains calcium hydroxide which can cause severe damage in contact with skin or eyes. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fawn is a beautiful color for my back stairway After trying numerous colors, fawn was the only winner. It’s in a narrow back stairway with limited natural light. It was a tough task to find a color that transitions well from very different color schemes in the connecting spaces…. Going up the stairs it presents close to shaded white. Going downstairs it presents as a camel color. I love this color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Provides a great updated look to stars and hallway I re-painted the Estate Eggshell with Modern Eggshell in out hallway and staircase. It looks just as good and is much moire practical incase we have to wipe off scuff marks or little hand prints. Went on well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic colour, but hard to describe! We have used this colour on three walls of our south facing dining room, teaming it with Lichen. In some lights it appears olivey green, in others a deep cream - it is truly a beautiful deep colour which we have totally fallen for. The coverage was good and even, went on smoothly and finished to a luscious finish. It took two coats to produce the depth of finish we wanted and it was worth every stroke of brush and roller! The overall effect of the room is sophisticated and 'grown up'. We are true Farrow and Ball fanatics, using it in all our rooms and would rarely use any other paint product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PLEASING CHOICE Excellent warmth and depth of colour; very cosy with a subtle apple green hint blended with the biscuit hue. Works well in our north light study with William Morris curtains and renovated medium oak varnished floor boards and rugs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am never disappointed with Farrow and Ball paint. I have used Farrow and Ball paint in four homes as we moved a fair amount over the past 10 years. I have never been disappointed, only thrilled with the results. I once had Benjamin Moore paint color matched to try to save a little of the cost and ended up repainting the room with Farrow and Ball because the difference was clear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great neutral, works with earth tones as well as classic crisp neutrals. Great colour, looks great with earth tones or crisp neutrals like navy, black and white. In some light it looks like a warm taupe and in other light it has a greenish undertone, but it always looks great. Estate emulsion brought our textured stucco walls to life and you can put almost any accent colour with Fawn. Works with modern, traditional or rustic style rooms, a very adaptable and beautiful colour. Painted it three years ago and don't think I will ever get tired of it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Result Used this on my cottage walls in the sitting room. The room has a low ceiling ribbed with beams and is quite a dark room. This colour looks fabulously sophisticated, adding warmth and depth without making the room too dark. I'm really pleased with it. Also used it on the concrete floor as a base to a large rug. It has worked surprisingly well. I am really pleased with the results.
