Cook's Blue

No. 237

* Samples available in Estate Emulsion only. Colours on screen may vary from actual paint.

Cook’s Blue was inspired by the romantic and poignant finish in the cook’s closet at Calke Abbey where the walls have been untouched over many decades. Its rich colour and brightness is perfect for use both in kitchens and exterior eating areas, as this tone is said to deter flies! Dark Tones Undercoat.

Great In A Boy's Bedroom! I have two sons aged 11 and 8. I wanted to decorate both their bedrooms. I wanted to create a room which was not babyish but also not too grown up either! They both decided on the Cooks Blue for a feature wall. I am very pleased with the overall result. As a feature wall, the Cooks Blue looks stunning. One room is south facing and the other room is in the attic with two velux windows. The overall result is that I would say it looks slightly darker in the south facing room. However, I am still really pleased with the final result. I don't think I would want to paint more than one wall with this colour as it could be a bit over bearing but as a feature wall absolutely fantastic. I teamed the Cooks Blue with Wimborne White on the skirting board and woodwork. The remaining walls and ceiling in brilliant white. I am very pleased with the overall result. The Cooks Blue was easy to apply. It took two coats. Doesn't leave any nasty lingering smell which is great. I found the paint good value for money as well as one 2.5 litre tin covered both feature walls! 02 December 2014
Worth the price After I received the color swatches from Farrow & Ball, I seriously thought that I would just take the one I chose to my paint store for color matching. I changed my mind, ordered the actual paint--Cook's Blue in Modern Emulsion--and waited for it to arrive. Although it stated that it would take 5 to 7 business days to arrive, it was less than 3 days before it was at my door. I painted my kitchen yesterday and I am thrilled with the results. I definitely made the right decision. 28 June 2014
End result is a very warm blue We changed the color of our bookcase from oriental to cook's blue. Using a white base color to make sure the dark mahony like color was not visible anymore, we had to use 2 layers of cook's blue. Being a book case, this was actually a bit annoying because it is quite a bit of work. And also as it turned out the small pot we bought was not enough to paint the bookcase, so we had to buy another. (the bookcase is not that big actually) So our advice would be to buy more than you need if you're painting a bookcase. The end result however is really beautiful as we are used with FB. 02 April 2014

A shed with style Painted my studio, The Literary Shed, this colour. It's gorgeous. It's also much lighter and more intense than in the colour swatch shown. 22 March 2014
A Warm Blue Our son aged 19 years chose this colour for his bedroom. I was worried it would be a cold, harsh colour but it is not and is actually a warm blue. Must have red undertones or something? He likes it, I like it. The ceiling is white flat emulsion and skirting in white eggshell (both Decorators own). In the past we have had colours on the ceilings but feel because they are just under 8 feet high white suits them best. The paint was applied to lining paper in 2 coats, no undercoating, and has a lovely smooth finish having been applied using a brush. Our Decorator likes this brand of paint. Now to choose the floor colour. Test pots in use for either Borrowed Light, Blackened, Downpipe or Railings onto the previously painted (cream-ish) wooden floor. 24 October 2013
Beach blue After spending ages trying to find the right shade of blue for our holiday cottage front door we decided on cooks blue. I was a little apprehensive wondering if it may be too bright but the results are fantastic. We love the look its everything we wanted. The colour on this website is nothing like the real shade and in full sun its softer than when in the shade. I wouldn't want to paint too much as its a bold statement colour but on our front door along with white render its wonderful...already had compliments! 23 October 2013
